MLA3 a Great Choice for Company’s Growing Casino Business
"The quality of the sound is incredible and they [McCauley team] were so supportive, we have adopted them as members of our family"
Sound Engineering Audio, based in Tacoma Washington, is a family-owned business dedicated to providing live performance production support with sound and lighting system set-up and operation. The company caters to venues with a capacity of 1,000 – 5,000.
After meeting and attending a MONARC MLA3 system demonstration, Sound Engineering Audio purchased the MLA3 system, from McCauley Sound in October 2006, with the objective of delivering superior sound services for outdoor events and multiple venues.
Together, Ed Otto, Sales Manager from McCauley Sound and Tim Holderman, President of Sound Audio Engineering, recognized an opportunity and the potential the MLA3 offers SEA clients. Subsequently, Holderman approached one of his best customers with a big idea. Holderman needed a location, close to Sound Engineering Audio’s headquarters, a quality space where he could test and showcase the company’s MLA3 system. Holderman approached long time client, Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington. “I’m a big believer in creating win-win situations, where everyone that is doing business together benefits,” says Holderman.
“McCauley brought the system out to the Little Creek Casino, where we had the opportunity to fine tune and get to know the system as well as change over my power and processing settings.” he remembers. “When we were finally ready, we brought the entertainment manager of the casino into the room. He was tickled pink. He told me that if we did not purchase the system, the
casino would because it was the best sounding system he had ever heard.”
The MLA3 set up continues to deliver for Sound Engineering Audio. “We’re booked out until September,” Holderman comments.
Tim Holderman attributes his success with the MLA3 to placing the right system in the right space and using the right people to make it happen.
“I wanted a venue where both our company and the McCauley team could bring people to showcase the MLA3,” says Holderman. “The quality of the sound is incredible and they [McCauley team] were so supportive, we have adopted them as members of our family!”
McCauley Sound designed the MLA3 to have an extremely efficient and easy to use rigging system so production teams can customize the system according to the act and venue space. It is easy to transport, fly and adjust the cells of the MONARC rig; offering venues with multiple rooms, stages or floors a huge advantage.
“The MLA3 is high performance and highly configurable, so big and small acts alike sound great,” says Otto. “People in the front row hear just as well as people in the back. With the MLA3 you get uniform coverage. The sound surrounds the audience so everyone in the space experiences the highest quality sound.”
The aesthetics of the MONARC line is another factor that makes it irresistible for system enthusiasts.
“Tim Holderman at Sound Engineering Audio runs a very tight operation so while it is
paramount that the system sounds fantastic, it was also important that it looks and functions well,” says Otto.
“We looked at a lot of different system options,” recalls Holderman. “At the end of the day McCauley’s MONARC MLA3 just made sense. I really like the fact that McCauley is local; I knew we could get the kind of support we needed, as well as help bolster our community by purchasing regionally.”
“This was Sound Engineering Audio’s first experience with a line array,” says Otto. “We made sure they got all the extra service and the factory support we are famous for. Of course, we’re going to be there for all of our customers, whether they are in our backyard or half way around the globe.”
