Audio Visual Factory Offers Line Array
Corporate Events Get A Sound Upgrade

"We have had actual events executives come down and tell us how exceptional the sound was compared to other events with other companies"
Tim Baldini
Audio Visual Factory, Inc.
Audio Visual Factory, specializing in corporate events, is the largest independent audiovisual staging company in the Northwest. Catering to clients ranging from Expedia to Microsoft, and Swedish Hospital to Starbucks, AV Factory is one of the first audiovisual companies in their field to adopt line array systems.

“We always fly our equipment,” says AV Factory Sales Rep Tim Baldini, “our rigs are four a side, and if we are doing just audio we can send two guys and it only takes them an hour to set up.” The key to AV Factory’s quick setup time is McCauley Sound’s MONARC rigging, designed to streamline the hanging process, and cut down on required setup time.

AV Factory’s arsenal includes McCauley Sound’s MS3 subwoofers, and MLA3 Speakers. The ambitious audiovisual company recently purchased two MS3 subwoofer modules, increasing an inventory which already included eight MLA3s. The versatile MS3 is a low-profile, mid-sized line array subwoofer, featuring McCauley’s unique MONARC Integrated Rigging System. According to McCauley’s website, the axially symmetrical, quad 15" design “provides incredible punch in either flown or stacked configurations.”

AV Factory also plans to acquire McCauley’s M-LINE system in the near future, having already placed an order for eight M120's (a 120 degree, horizontal, full-range model), and two MS1s (a dual 15" volumetrically loaded LF model.) AV will use the lightweight, compact, two -way M.LINE speakers to increase their options when it comes to close-quarters presentations. The M.LINE is composed of smaller modules that are smaller than the

MONARC three-way speakers, while still providing quality sound, and the ease of the MONARC rigging system.

AV Factory was thorough in their product choice, having originally tested a variety of equipment before settling on the McCauley systems. “We tried the [other manufacturer] stuff,” says Baldini, “and before we bought the MLA3s [from McCauley] we had [other manufacturer's] products.” But it was Baldini’s familiarity with McCauley systems from his previous work with the New York-based Branchini Sound, that ultimately convinced AV Factory, “McCauley sounds great and has the best support,” he says, “plus I knew they were right here in our backyard.”

AV Factory’s use of line array systems has put them at the head of the class when it comes to audiovisual staging. “Most of our events are in convention centers,” says Baldini, “and the spaces are a nightmare for audio because of massive slapback.” The difficulty that some systems have in accurately covering audience area in those nightmare spaces can render audio unintelligible. Av Factory found that the combination of McCauley’s MLA3s and MS3s provides extremely accurate coverage, overcoming audio challenges created by awkward locations. The ease of combining the two systems, allows the subs to be flown in tandem, giving AV Factory the clean, clear stage that has become their hallmark.

“We’ve had actual events executives come down and tell us how exceptional the sound was compared to other events with other companies,” says Baldini, “it makes us the hero of the room, and earns us more business... for us that’s the real benefit of owning this system.”
